Unibind Support Surrey Air Ambulance Charity

Surrey was one of only a few counties in the UK that did not have its own dedicated Helicopter Emergency Medical Service - HEMS, but this all changed in June 2007, when the helicopter was launched by a host of celebrities.

Responding swiftly to 999 calls, air ambulances are able to deliver a medical crew to the scene of an accident or medical emergency and to transport patients to the nearest major hospital or specialist unit, in a fraction of the time taken by a land ambulance.

However, the challenge now is to meet the yearly running costs of approximately £1.7 million to provide Surrey and neighbouring Sussex with an emergency helicopter service, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Receiving no funding from the National Lottery the charity relies almost entirely upon the generosity of the public to support the Surrey Air Ambulance.

We’re sure you’ll agree this is a worthy charity and will keep you informed of all the exciting fundraising events we carry out over the next few months.

When Unibind Systems claim they have a product for everyone, we mean it! With customers ranging from zoologists to road sweepers, Unibind Systems caters for an eclectic customer base.

One such customer is MMF Ltd who were established in 1975 and are now the UK’s leading stockist of flues and chimneys. In November 2010, they chose Unibind Systems to fulfil their binding and presentation. Starting out with our SteelCystal product, they found the product gave a professional and secure finish, perfect for their internal reports.

For those extra-special documents however, owner Pete Reynolds, chose our transfer printed books. Debuted at Hearth & Home Exhibition in Harrogate last month, the books were used as personalised freebies for visitors and were full of information on the company.

MMF really liked the books and found they were well-received by visitors. “The books turned our normal soft cover price lists into something special for the exhibition, which were noticed by customers & competitors alike” recognised Pete.

“At exhibitions, you need something that differentiates you as company”. Raising the level of their presentation raised the profile of the company and gave visitors something to remember MMF Ltd by, thereby increasing their chances of winning new business.

Unibind's Web Tutorials Go Down a Storm

As you may well be aware, we recently launched our new range of tutorial videos on our website and on YouTube.

The feedback we have received has been overwhelmingly positive, reinforcing our view that creating an instructional guide to our systems and products was an extremely worthwhile venture.

Whilst it has encouraged new customers to order from us, and seen dormant customers re-order, the guide has also attracted a lot of new interest. Our website saw a huge surge in new, direct traffic, with nearly 1,500 tutorial page views in two days.

Much of the feedback we received confirmed our suspicions that many of our machine users weren't aware of their systems' full capabilities. For example, many people were grateful to learn exactly how to amend their document, whilst others were surprised to discover whole documents could be taken apart.

We are very pleased with the success of these videos and are soon to start work on additional tutorials, focusing first on a trouble shooting guide.

If you have not yet taken a look at our tutorials, visit www.unibindsystems.co.uk/tutorials and see what all the fuss is about!

Unibind UK's First Instructional DVD Goes Live

The idea for the DVD was prompted by the realisation that some of our customers don’t have the resources at hand to overcome issues or problems with our systems.

Through the film we have aimed to answer many common FAQs we receive from our existing customers, but a troubleshooting guide will soon be added too. The DVD will also benefit new employees who take over a role where a Unibind system is used, making it possible for them to quickly and easily understand how to use our binding systems.

The DVD currently consists of the following eight chapters, although we will be adding new chapters over the coming months, including our troubleshooting guide.

1) XU Range of binding systems

7) SteelBook

The film has been posted under the gallery section of our website and on our recent YouTube channel, and will shortly be placed on our homepage. The film will feature in full but has also been divided up into its separate chapters so the relevant section can be viewed quickly and easily.

The links to these chapters will also be included in emails in cases where account managers deem relevant sections may be helpful for their customer. Similarly, if a customer phones in with an issue, the account manager can discuss it with them in conjunction showing them the film, thus enabling the customer to fully understand how to use or solve the issue they are having with the machine.

Unibind’s SteelBinding Method – Thermal Binding at its Best

What are the benefits?

Our thermal binding machines have no on/off switch but remain dormant until activated, and need no warm-up time. Very little time or labour is required to use the machine, as the magnet switches off automatically once the heat plate has been through the binding cycle, allowing you to get on with other jobs.

Thermal binding is the most stylish and professional binding method, requiring no punch holes or staples. Thermal bound documents also lay-flat and are easy to package and store. Unibind offer a range of finishing options to add class and customisation to your document, including transfer printing, foil blocking, and a fully bespoke option with our new CaseMaker 750A.

Our binding method is also extremely secure and incredibly durable. Pages cannot fall out or be removed without reheating the spine. However, our documents are easy to amend. Instead of a water-based glue, Unibind’s Steelbinding range uses a patented 4-part nylon resin which does not deteriorate with time and can be repeatedly heated for amendments or updates.

In addition, our thermal binding machines allow for multi-document and multi-user binding. Each plate can heat several documents at once, and each plate is activated separately, so different users can use the machine at once.

Various sized documents can be bound on our binding machines, which are lightweight and highly portable. With no moving parts, Unibind’s thermal binding systems are also maintenance free.
